Our background as designers has always allowed us to think with a "problem-solving" mindset.
Because we firmly believe that an ideal life requires creativity and practice, in order to solve the environmental problems caused by plastics, we have delved into the ecological model of Taiwan's plastic industry. Through the research on plastic raw materials, we try to solve the environmental problems caused by plastics. In addition to developing more efficient and better-used design products, we have also created a "raw material recycling system" to increase the life cycle of plastic raw materials and reduce the generation of plastic waste. Through the graded use of recycled plastics and the development of new products, we realize the plastic cycle.
The products that the Oma R&D team has already developed include "straws" and "forget bags". There are many more products currently under testing and development that will be launched in the second half of 2020. A more complete A Plastic Project product system, recycling system, and plastic reuse mechanism are being steadily established.
In the days ahead, we will create a modern lifestyle of "reducing plastic and walking slowly". You are welcome to join us so that "the use of plastic products" and "the natural environment" will no longer conflict.
▍About straws▍
The fundraising project "Straws" planned and produced by A Plastic Project (developed by Dajian) fully demonstrates the mission and spirit of Taiwanese designers. Behind it is the strong strength of Taiwan's plastic processing and production. The design capabilities and production processes can only happen in Taiwan. "Straws" launched a fundraising project in August 2019 and successfully received nearly 40,000 sponsorship orders. The total amount of funds raised was nearly NT$13 million, setting a record of first place in Taiwan's straw project and second place in the world in terms of sponsorship.
The "sucking straw" designed by the custom for Taiwan's hand-shaken drinking culture is the world's lightest and thinnest environmentally friendly straw. Adhering to the spirit of "because it is easy to use, it can be used every day", it is innovatively made of medical-grade "polypropylene (PP)" material. It can be opened and rolled, and can directly pierce the seal of the hand-shaken drink. The side clip chain structure can directly open the straw for cleaning, and the extremely thin tube wall design can be rolled up and stored and carried with you, allowing users who are accustomed to disposable straws to painlessly switch to "sucking straws". In addition, it can be used with the patented buckle storage tank "roll-up tank" to directly transform it into a portable accessory. Light and cute, with a dreamy candy color, it has blown a wave of environmentally friendly accessories among students and office workers.
