Shizu was named after the master blacksmith "Shizu Saburo" in the Kamakura period, as a tribute to and in memory of his contribution to the forging process.
Mr. Horibe founded Shizu Craftsman in 1959. He is an excellent knife sharpener. In the early days, he mainly focused on the overseas OEM business of pocket knives. The quality was highly praised at home and abroad, and he quickly became a representative of the knife industry in Seki City.
The current third-generation president, Mr. Hisashi Horibe, has always kept an open mind about the inheritance of technology, and is willing to accept new technologies and new perspectives, which is very different from the traditional craftsman culture. Therefore, Shizu Craftsmen are mostly young workers. Through regular technical seminars and visits to other companies, they continue to improve their knife making skills. The cutting-edge knife-making technology also attracts the entrusted processing of well-known knife brands, making Shizu Craftsman a leading knife-making enterprise in Seki and in the whole country.
Adhering to the enthusiasm and quenching chain of producing high-quality knives, let the traditional blade manufacturing continue to challenge innovation and give knives new value.
"The value of the spirit of blacksmithing lies in perseverance in every step; brand-new techniques are presented through craftsmen"
