At the age of 40, I gave up my cram school career and moved to Jingdezhen, a city that was completely new to me and my children. It was a city with a thousand-year-old reputation as the capital of porcelain. By chance, I entered the furniture industry the following year, which was completely different from what I had studied. The common point between these two careers is that I can take care of my children nearby.
Twelve years later, I entered a new chapter in my life. The semi-retired life in the empty nest period is free, but also directionless.
In the process of kneading clay, rolling clay strips, and throwing pottery, it is as if one fixes one's wandering mind at the center of the turntable, and the little emotions of life are rolled into the clay strips, and settle in circles. The daily mood is evenly elevated and recorded, and the little landscapes in one's mind are preserved and fixed under the temperature of the kiln.
Each experience in life is like opening a door. We welcome surprises with curiosity and need courage to open up a new world.
When you <open that door>, when you see my craft space, you let me and us walk on the path of loving what we love.
