In the early days, the red clay from Dadu Mountain was considered to be unsuitable for making pottery due to its low temperature resistance and was only used to make red bricks. However, Chen Jinwang, a teacher from Yaogu, saw the characteristics of the red clay, which has a higher iron content than ordinary pottery clay. He not only inherited the wisdom of his ancestors to make glaze, but also discovered that as long as the red clay was refined, it could also be used to make pots. In recent years, Chen Jinwang has further sublimated the red clay, challenging the imitation iron rust texture and applying it to modern pottery, which has shined at the International Ceramics Biennale.

【Iron Series】
The low temperature of red clay means it has a high iron content and strong plasticity. Iron is an important component of glaze. Using red clay as a mud glaze can produce a variety of beautiful colors that are natural and varied.
Teacher Chen Jinwang further sublimated the red clay, challenging himself to apply the rust texture of ironware to modern pottery and the amazing Tieding teaware series.
【Xiwang Series】
Yaogu is located on the Dadu Mountain in Shalu, Taichung City, Taiwan. Every autumn and winter, during the northeast monsoon, the mountains are often burned by wildfires caused by humans. This reminds him of the rhinoceros, which are known as forest firefighters. Its characteristics are that it will trample out fire as soon as it sees it. However, its bravery and honesty are on the verge of extinction due to environmental changes and human hunting. This has become his response to the issue of animal protection through creation. The rhinoceros has a silly shape and pleasing colors. It is as long as 80 cm and as small as 10 cm. He is the first person in Taiwan who is good at sculpting rhinoceros with pottery.
